Staff
Garvon Golden has served in the Dakotas for 21 years. In addition to his interim position, he presently serves as the Sharing Christ Team Leader, Associate Executive Director, and Southwest Regional Missionary for the Dakota Baptist Convention. Garvon has served as a Pastor, Director of Missions, and is now with the State Convention. Garvon presently lives in Rapid City, SD with his wife Cindy. They have four adult children Anna, Thomas, Lydia and Sam and three grandchildren Payton, Garvon and Adam. After coming to the State Convention, Garvon helped reinstitute a state wide evangelism conference. He has also played a role in developing a national intentional evangelism ministry for the Sturgis Bike Rally. This ministry has presented the gospel to over 14,000 people with over 3,200 individuals praying to receive Christ in the last four years. Presently, Garvon is leading the Dakota Baptist Convention through involvement in the National Evangelism initiative “God’s Plan for Sharing…every believer sharing…every person hearing” ;which will be a strategy that will encompass the next ten years. Garvon is a graduate of Texas A&M in Commerce, Texas and has a Master of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
Bob Hower has served as the Minister of Education/Administration of Westside Baptist Church for the past 16 years. Prior to his current position he served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. In addition to his current duties, he is active in the community with the Rapid City Ministerial Alliance where he served as president in 2000. He also served four years on the board of Directors of CareNet Pregnancy Resource Center and as president in 2002. He has also served as vice moderator, and moderator of the Black Hills Area Baptist Association as well as several associational committees. He currently serves as an on-call chaplain for Rapid City Regional Hospital. Bob continues to advance his education by attending local, state and national Southern Baptist conferences. He has also attended numerous seminars hosted by Rapid City Regional Hospital concerning patient care and pastoral duties and has completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education sponsored by Avera-McKennan Hospital of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Bob is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and has a Master of Education Administration degree from South Dakota State University. Bob and his wife Cindi have four children and five grandchildren.
